It’s the time of the year to move your eyes to the sky above Oludeniz as the paragliders, skydivers, and birdmen gear up for the 22nd International Air Games from 19th to 23rd October 2022. This year, Türkiye’s famous bay will also host the World Acro Cup for four days from September 28th, so do cruise over and watch the action if you’re in the vicinity.
ABOUT OLUDENIZ
The pale sandbank, clear turquoise waters, and famed blue lagoon in Oludeniz have attracted tourists to Türkiye for decades. In the sixties, the beach was a hippy hang-out, but time has seen the campsites make way for the fancy hotels, shops, and restaurants we see today. Oludeniz remains one of Türkiye’s most popular and attractive destinations, but not all who visit the resort keep their feet on the ground. Oludeniz is also famed for air sports and attracts paragliders from near and far to fly from the lofty heights of Babadag mountain, 1,969m above the bay.
Oludeniz is one of the world’s most popular locations for tandem and solo paragliding. Pilots benefit from excellent facilities on top of Babadag, and the area’s stable weather conditions mean flights can be enjoyed throughout the day. For spectators, the colourful canopies soaring through the sky above Oludeniz are a great sight throughout the year, but during the air games, the pilots’ stunts are incredible.

Aside from the paragliding, microlights, birdmen, skydivers and paramotors all take to the sky, pulling amazing stunts many meters above the bay. The official program for the 2022 Airgames is yet to be announced, but it always proves impressive, so do add a visit to the bay to your itinerary if you would like to watch the proceedings.

The cable cars are modern and spacious, and you can enjoy spectacular views over Oludeniz bay and Fethiye on the journey up. At the top, there are several cafes and a couple of decent restaurants where you can soak in the vistas and watch as the paragliders take off on their journey down to the beach.
