Istanbul is home to many fabulous restaurants, but Lokanta 1741 in the Old Town has to be one of the most unique. It’s located in Cagaloglu Hammam, a beautiful 300-year old Ottoman bathhouse. Here, you can sit between the impressive domes on the terrace or dine inside by the fireplace if it gets chilly.

Lokanta 1741 certainly ticks the box as a memorable location, and thankfully, the food and drinks don’t disappoint. Tugra Restaurant, Ciragan Palace Kempinski Hotel, Istanbul
The historic Ciragan Palace Kempinski Hotel on the banks of the Bosphorus has often been featured in our posts as an ideal escape to relax or overnight, so it should come as no surprise that the hotels signature fine-dining restaurant is spectacular too. This former Ottoman palace makes for a fabulous setting, plus it’s convenient for guests as Ciragan Palace is the only hotel in Istanbul accessible by car, yacht and helicopter.

The word “Tuğra” refers to an Ottoman Sultans signature, and the exquisite dishes Executive Chef Sezai Erdogan serve are indeed fit for a king. This is Ottoman food at its best, with an inspired menu of classics, some based on recipes found in the archives of Topkapi Palace. Liman Istanbul, Galataport, Istanbul
Fabulous food, outstanding service and flawless presentation are on the menu at Liman Istanbul. The backdrop is again the Bosphorus, and the restaurant was once located on the top floor of Karakoy Passenger Terminal but is now homed at Galataport. The restaurant has a long and fascinating past. In the 1950s, Ataturk’s former executive chef, Silvian Fontana, was at the helm. Here, Fontana created one of Türkiye’s first Western-style restaurants, presenting a new take on Turkish food in a far more contemporary way. The restaurant quickly grew into one of Istanbul’s favourite haunts for the business set, artists, celebrities and the local elite – the crowd it still appeals to today.
