ABOUT THE GOCEK RIXOS SAILING CUP
The Rixos Sailing Cup is a relatively young regatta, running since 2016. Organised by Rixos Premium Gocek and the Gocek Yacht Club, it is a four-day event timed to start just after the Gocek Race Week. The program is perfect for those who enjoy sailing at most levels and consists of several short races topped off with awards ceremonies and a rich entertainment line-up of an evening.
Registration for the event takes place on Tuesday 9th November at the Race Office at Rixos Premium Gocek, with the evening performances and live music taking place at Nox The Stage. If you would like more information, take a look at the official Rixos Sailing Cup website or CONTACT US for more details.
ABOUT GOCEK
Gocek has been a playground of high-flyers, celebrities and yachtsmen for decades, so it should come as no surprise that it’s the setting for many sailing events and regattas. It’s a natural harbour town tucked into a glorious bay and jewelled by islands, making the towns lure for yachts undeniable.
Gocek bay naturally lends itself towards sailing so, as you would expect, the yachting facilities are superb. It boasts six marinas, two catering for superyachts, so it’s an ideal Mediteannean stop-off for anyone wishing to spend time with the yacht crowd or that enjoys living the high-life onshore.
Like many of the towns and bays along the Turkish coast, Gocek boasts a fascinating history. Today the hillsides surrounding the bay home fancy villas and multi-million dollar homes. But, according to legend, it was from these very hills that Icarus took off then landed in the sea after his famous flight to escape imprisonment. The harbour has also not always been filled with the fancy waterfront eateries, premium resorts and designer boutiques we find today. Gocek was once an industrial harbour used to ship chrome, and before that, it was awash with pirates and sea bandits!
Gocek has become synonymous with cruising and sailing in Türkiye. Its location, just a 20-minute transfer from Dalaman International Airport, makes it the ideal base for those looking to get to and from their yachts, and this is why so many superyacht owners choose to home their ships in town. CONTACT US or drop by our Gocek office for more information – we would love to see you!
