During the pandemic, the global tourism and hospitality industries suffered considerably, so it seems the right time to support our fine local chefs and restauranteurs. Türkiye is full of incredible haunts with an unwavering dedication to all things delicious, so here’s a look at a few of the best restaurants in Türkiye.
FATIH TURK, BOMONTI, ISTANBUL
The restaurant of chef Fatih Tutak is one of Türkiye’s finest, and it often gains rave reviews in the foodie press – some even suggesting it outshines many Michelin restaurants around the world. From the moment you walk into this light and contemporary space, you realise you’ve entered another league, where the setting and atmosphere is flawless.
Before returning to Türkiye, Chef Fatih Tutak spent time in Asia, including a post as the chef at The House on Sathorn in Bangkok, a well-regarded place that made it to the list of Asia’s Best Restaurants. A longing to celebrate the dishes of his own country was what lured Fatih back to Istanbul, where he set about sourcing the very best in Turkish produce; cheese from Kars and Antakya and cornflour from Giresun. He has since become known for his modern interpretation of Turkish classics – one review even said, “Chef Fatih has taken Turkish dishes by the scruff of the neck and given it a good shake – and the results are phenomenal”. Chef’s table, tasting and full menu options are available, but seats are hard to come by, so book in advance if you fancy visiting Fatih Turk.

Located in a beautifully converted former Greek theatre, this unusual and informal location adds to the atmosphere, making an evening at Hic a genuinely memorable experience.
The Hic concept works, and their talented chef expertly turns the findings in the forest into beautifully executed, generously portioned and utterly tasty dishes.
