POPULAR KUSADASI
Kusadasi is a popular town on the West coast of Turkiye, 90 km from Izmir. It’s a large and thriving resort with no-end of hotels, restaurants, boutiques and bars, from cheap and cheerful through to high-end and designer. Kusadasi is also known for its marina and close proximity to Ephesus, the Virgin Mary’s House, St. John’s Church and The Temple of Artemis (one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World).
Kusadasi is perhaps most popular due to its proximity to Ephesus, a site anyone with an interest in history should visit at least once.
Philon of Byzantium, the architect and engineer who helped originally draw up the list of ancient wonders, once praised the Temple of Artemis saying, “I have seen the walls and the Hanging Gardens of ancient Babylon, the statue of Olympian Zeus, the Colossus of Rhodes, the mighty work of the high pyramids and the tomb of Mausolus. But when I saw the temple at Ephesus rising to the clouds, all these other wonders were put in the shade.”
Aside from the history, the town offers visitors a great choice of activities and entertainment. A bustling place popular with tourists and cruise ships high season, the nightlife is excellent, and the marina caters for yachts of all sizes.
