FAQ’s

With coastal lines fronting both the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, Türkiye’s sailing season traditionally runs from April to November. As such, many coastal holiday resorts, towns and villages are dormant throughout the winter months and only kick into action from when the summer charter flight schedules start in late March.

During the summer months, rainfall is unusual, and you can expect the perfect weather for alfresco dining and cruising along much of the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts. During July and August (high season), temperatures rise and often go above 40 degrees. For those wanting to avoid the main tourist crowds or that wish to explore historical sites or indulge in activities, Spring (May and June), or Autumn (September and October) are the best cruising months in Türkiye normally serving up great conditions and less crowded bays and anchorages. Please CONTACT US for berthing advice or an itinerary.

Cruising conditions in Türkiye are normally good and fairly constant during the sailing season. From May to Mid-September, morning to afternoon winds from the northeast breeze across the Turkish coastline of the Aegean before lessening off in the Mediterranean. Called the Meltemi, it normally doesn’t affect cruising conditions, but most sailors avoid the Cyclades islands region, sitting off the Aegean coast during late July and early August because it can get stronger during this time.

If it’s your first time cruising in Türkiye, please CONTACT US for advice and assistance in tailoring the ideal Turkish sailing itinerary taking into account weather conditions and your lifestyle choices.

There are many Ports of Entry in Türkiye. Perhaps the most popular are; Kusadasi, Yalikavak, Didim and Datca on the Aegean coast, and Marmaris, Gocek, Fethiye, Kas, Finike, Kemer, Antalya and Alanya along the Meditteranean. Many of these offer fabulous marinas, most with the ability to cater to super yachts. 360 Yachting is available to assist with entry and paperwork in all areas of Türkiye, please get in touch for assistance.

Note: Please CONTACT US if you are looking for entry via Istanbul or passage to the Black Sea region. Istanbul is a strictly controlled and extremely busy Port of Entry and, as such, paperwork can be troublesome and time-consuming unless organised in advance.
