GOCEK: 360° YACHTING’S HOME

Gocek has for decades been the playground of high-flyers, celebrities and yachtsmen. A natural harbour town tucked into a glorious bay and jewelled by islands, the towns beauty is undeniable.

Gocek bay naturally lends itself towards cruising so, as you would expect, the yachting facilities are superb. Boasting six marinas, two catering for super yachts, Gocek is the ideal stop-off or layover for anyone wishing to spend time with the yacht crowd or that enjoys living the high-life onshore.

Like many of the towns and bays along the Turkish coast, Gocek boasts a fascinating history. Today the hillsides surrounding the bay home fancy villas and multi-million dollar properties. But, according to legend, it was from these very hills that Icarus took off then landed in the sea after his famous flight to escape imprisonment. The harbour has also not always been filled with the fancy bistros and designer boutiques we find today. Gocek was once an industrial harbour used to ship chrome, and before that, it was awash with pirates and sea bandits!

Gocek has become synonymous with cruising and sailing in Turkiye. It’s location, just a 20-minute transfer from Dalaman International Airport makes it the ideal base for those looking to jet to and from their yachts and this is why so many owners choose to home their boats in town.
