From April to October each year, the Turquoise Coast is awash with sailors and superyachts, largely thanks to its spectacular bays, attractive harbour towns, first-class marinas, and clear azure waters.
Türkiye has something to offer all travellers, including those looking for a luxury escape. From serene beaches, chic spas, and high-end hideaways to fine Michelin Star restaurants hidden in rural cottages or fancy resorts.
If you plan to add Türkiye to your cruising itinerary, here’s our hand-picked selection of the best destinations for superyachts in Türkiye in 2024.
BEST DESTINATIONS FOR SUPERYACHTS IN TURKEY 2024
Türkiye is well known for its hospitality, so when visiting the coast, expect a warm welcome!
The coastline in Türkiye is diverse. Although many coastal villages and bays are sleepy and laid-back, recent years have seen sections around Bodrum and Izmir revamped to offer exceptional levels of luxury. You can now find excellent high-end resorts, marinas, beach clubs, and restaurants along much of the shoreline. See below a few locations guests should enjoy on a luxury yacht charter in Türkiye.
Alacati, Cesme Peninsula
Located on the shores of the Aegean, the charming, former Greek fishing town of Alaçatı is famed for its winemaking, beaches, water sports, and pretty bougainvillaea-clad old stone houses.
Forbes once described Alaçatı as “the best-kept luxury travel secret on the Mediterranean”, and Conde Nast believed it was “summertime’s coolest spot” – all of which we support, as the galleries, arty cafes, excellent restaurants, and laid-back vibe certainly make it worth popping on the superyacht itinerary, especially for guests looking to keep things low-key.
Despite some travel press dubbing Alaçatı a hip new Bodrum, the town has miraculously escaped mass tourism and has only recently become popular with superyachts and the Turkish elite. Read our post, The Fine Restaurants in Alaçatı and Çeşme, for tips on where to head for a lazy lunch or evening meal. The food scene in the area is a real highlight, with many high-end restaurants found in renovated old Greek houses or hidden under the shade of olive trees. If you are hosting guests who want to unwind, wear the casuals, and enjoy a little laid-back Aegean lifestyle, consider adding Alaçatı to your Türkiye yachting itinerary – CONTACT US for more information.
Kas, Antalya Province
On Türkiye’s Mediterranean coast, the bohemian harbour town of Kas is another low-key resort and an excellent place to unwind for an evening. The town, stretching up the hillsides to the rear of a small bay, tends to appeal to those wanting to avoid the main tourist hotspots. However, it is popular with Europeans during high summer, who stay in the local boutique hotels and enjoy exploring its warren of narrow streets where restaurants, cafés, art galleries, and souvenir shops are found.
Kas is a place to sip a cold beer in a hip sea-view bar or enjoy local wine and seabass in a relaxed water-side restaurant. There are also many places to visit and things to do locally, and the tiny Greek island of Meis (Kastellorizo) is also just a few minute’s cruise across the water, which also offers a worthy escape from the crowds.
Bozcaada, Canakkale
The North Aegean Island of Bozcaada has become a popular destination in Türkiye for superyachts, as it boasts many excellent bays and anchorages and serves up an exciting mix of Turkish and Greek influences.
Described by Forbes as “a secret Aegean Island paradise”, it’s a place to sample the local wine, explore the Instagram-worthy cobbled streets, enjoy a relaxed meal in a vine and fairy-light draped courtyard, or shop for arts and crafts in little souvenir shops and boutiques.
Bozcaada is blessed with many beautiful beaches and hidden coves, ideal for swimming, paddle boarding, and snorkelling. However, due to its North Aegean location, the waters are cooler than many areas further up the mainland coast.
A visit to Bozcaada will appeal to those wanting to escape the tourist hoards, wine connoisseurs and any history buffs onboard. The reason is that the island, referred to as Leukophrys in ancient times and as Tenedos in Greek Mythology, is mentioned several times in Homer’s The Iliad.
Gocek, Fethiye
The stretch of coast between Gocek and Fethiye has been popular with yachtsmen for decades – and that’s hardly surprising given that it serves up some of the best cruising in the Med. The area is a feast for the eyes, scattered with islands, awash with bays and packed full of historic coves.
Gocek was Türkiye’s original yachting destination, established well before the likes of Yalikavak came into play, so, as you would expect, the yachting facilities in the area are superb. The town boasts outstanding marinas, including three that cater to superyachts. Gocek is also where our main office is located, so between trips into town and exploring the local waters, please feel free to CONTACT US or drop by our office whilst you are in the area.
Yalikavak Marina, Bodrum
Most on the superyacht circuit will be familiar with Yalikavak Marina, as it ranks as one of the best marinas in the world.
At Yalikavak Marina, the onsite lifestyle and yachting facilities are superb. From a wide range of international restaurants, fine hotels, and high-end spas to a designer shopping mall with the likes of D&G, Dior, Prada, Gucci, and Valentino, Yalikavak marina’s sophistication and opulence is sure to impress.
If you intend to visit Yalikavak, the marina has 620 berths and can comfortably cater to yachts of up to 140m LOA. As you would expect from a facility of this calibre, you can find all the technical and maintenance services. Furthermore, we can arrange port and entry, berths, and provisions and attend to any other requirements you may have whilst onsite. CONTACT US for details.
