There are loads of great reasons to visit Kas, but perhaps the main lure is for low-key guests, as it’s an attractive town that’s escaped mass tourism, leaving it the ideal haunt for those looking to avoid the crowds and well-trodden coastal hot spots.

Kaputas

Kas is indeed a pretty old town with a relaxed bohemian feel. It’s built up a hillside with a fascinating warren of streets hiding boutiques, cafés, restaurants and shops at its heart. Kas is a great place to sip a cold drink or enjoy a fresh seabass dinner in a trendy water-side restaurant, plus there are many places to go and things to do locally, making it a location most superyacht guests and crew enjoy.

A FEW GOOD REASONS TO VISIT KAS

Kas

Fabulous beaches

Kas boasts some of the best beaches and bays in Türkiye, and you can tell quickly from its waters why this stretch is known as the Turquoise Coast. The spectacular beach of Kaputas is the most well known, tucked between high cliffsides, but it can get busy peak season.

Patara

Other great beaches within easy reach of Kas include Patara, where an ancient city and a beach meet (read our blog on Patara and Letoon), Liman Agzi, that’s beautiful and relatively quiet, and Asmaalti near the harbour, a decent place to watch the sunset.

Explore the Old Town

Kas is a place where superyachts sail alongside fishing tugs, and traditional gulets fill the local waters. It’s a place with a cosmopolitan feel and a great ambience of an evening when the narrow streets come alive with people browsing an eclectic mix of handicrafts, souvenirs and carpet shops. Take a leisurely pre or post-dinner stroll and immerse yourself in the local art and culture – there’s always some great buys and one-off pieces in the local stores.

Kas

Enjoy some live music or jazz.

The harbourfront and backstreets of Kas town is home to many hippy hang-outs, jazz bars and trendy live music joints. These places are informal and relaxed, where locals and tourists enjoy each others company, sip their beers or a little raki, and listen to a band or some laid-back jazz and blues. Places like Hi Jazz and Echo Bar seem the most popular, featuring many local artists.

Kas

Fabulous food with a great view

Kas has been popular with European tourists for many years, yet it has developed a high-end following over recent years. The steep mountainsides surrounding the bay are now awash with high-end villas offering dizzying sea views and fancy artisan hotels, luxury spas and restaurants. There are a few great restaurants tucked away from the crowds around Kas. ASK US for pointers on where to go if you’re organising a night out.

Kas

Diving

For those wanting to explore the depths, Kas is one of the best places in Türkiye to go diving and snorkelling. The waters around Kas boast many dive sites and are beautifully clear and warm, meaning you encounter a range of marine life and perhaps even a few turtles. There’s also a sunken ship, tank and plane to explore – ASK US for details on dive sites.

Kalekoy Kas

Watch the sunset at Kalekoy

Kalekoy near Kas is an ancient peninsula, and its pretty little village is only accessible by sea. Kalekoy village has a very different, olde-worlde feel. Here you find a few little restaurants and hotels, a couple of high-end villas, and a castle serving up panoramic views, making it a fantastic place to watch the sunset if you’re in the vicinity.

meis

Visit the Greek island of Meis (Kastellorizo)

If you’re craving an escape and a little laid-back Mediterranean life, head over to the tiny island of Meis (Kastellorizo), located just a couple of minutes cruise over the water from Kas. This colourful, picture-postcard island is the smallest of the Dodecanese islands and was once part of the Ottoman Empire. It’s a lovely escape, rarely busy and an excellent place to take a lazy lunch or enjoy a cold drink as you watch the fishing boats and locals go about their daily business.

Greek island of Meis

Meis does have that blissful Greek island feel, but if you’re after the boom-boom of busy bars and nightclubs, this isn’t the destination for you – there are no high-rise hotels or brand name stores here. It’s a place where time slows down, and life revolves around the harbour and the few tourists that take the short trip over from Kas for a look around. ASK US to add Meis to your itinerary.

Kas Setur Marina

Kas Setur Marina

Kas Setur Marina is a modern facility located 1 km from Kas town centre, towards Kalkan. It offers seven floating piers, a jetty, and berths for around 450 yachts, including superyachts and mega yachts.

kas setur marina

The marina is popular with those cruising the Turkish coast, and most would agree Kas is a good location to overnight. The quayside offers decent facilities, and the berths are affordable compared with many of the trendy marinas around Bodrum or Antalya.

setur marina

For guests and crew, Kas Setur Marina has a yacht club, hotel, restaurants, cafe, bar and a supermarket on-site, but most choose to arrange transport and head to Kas Old Town for an evening for shopping, eats and entertainment. For yachts, all of the standard fuel and waste services are available, as well as a technical workshop, painting and mechanical assistance. If you want to add Kas to your itinerary or book a berth at Kas Setur Marina, please CONTACT US.
